Robert ( Bob ) Murphy
Bob Murphy was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Southern California. He graduated with a BA Magna Cum Laude from California State College at Northridge. He also achieved a JD with Honors from Columbia University School of Law and was a Ford Foundation Fellowship recipient in Criminology at Cambridge University. Bob has authored over 20 Articles on Labor and Employment Law. He has appeared as a guest lecturer and trainer for the Association of Corporate Counsel, SHRM, the University of San Diego School of Law and numerous other organizations.
Bob’s practice is devoted exclusively to the representation of employers and, for many years, has been focused on both matters before the National Labor Relations Board as well as the defense of discrimination and harassment cases, including claims of sexual harassment, disability and age discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination. His clients have included a wide variety of national corporations with facilities across the United States.
During his extensive career he has represented employers in over 1000 union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations and unfair labor practice cases before The National Labor Relations Board. He has counseled over 200 buyers and sellers of businesses on labor and employment Issues arising out of those sales and has conducted or managed hundreds of investigations related to state and federal employment discrimination cases.
Bob is a widowed father of four; Christopher, Meghan, Katie & John. He is an avid golfer, movie goer, outdoorsman and animal lover.
Worked with world famous luxury resort properties to create employment cultures that empowered employees, increased repeat business and made them litigation and union averse, despite being located in one of the most heavily unionized area of the United States.
Successfully defended one of the largest restaurant chains in the U.S.A. in a widely publicized sexual harassment trial that was one of the longest such trials ever conducted.
